Gameplay
Yes, yes I know Subway Surfers is an old game but it’s made it’s way back to the top of the app store charts. It seems like a lot more people have downloaded the game, and it’s exciting because I remember loving it a few years ago. So let’s see if it’s changed much and if I still love it at the same rate I used to.
The idea is to run away from the inspector and his dog while collecting coins and avoiding a number of obstacles that get in your way. The gameplay definitely sounds a lot easier than it is. The further you get in the game, the more obstacles come and sometimes you barely have time to react before you go smashing straight into them.
Graphics
From what I remember, Subway Surfers doesn’t look a whole lot different to what it did back in 2013. Of course, the colors are brighter and more clear, but they haven’t had an upgrade in terms of how detailed they are. However, this is a good thing as I feel like big Subway Surfers fans would be upset with too big of a makeover. I personally feel lots of nostalgia even playing today and it’s lovely!
Music & Sounds
The music hasn’t changed once since the beginning and we respect Sybo Games for that. You all know the upbeat music that is the Subway Surfers theme song – it’s iconic and we love it!
Controls
The controls are fairly simple, however, that doesn’t mean the game is easy. Swipe up, left, right, and down to control your character but keep in mind you need to work fast so you don’t crash. On top of this, keep an eye on any power-ups you might encounter as they’ll help you significantly. The best power-up is the bouncy shoes as this allows you to jump over anything – so it’s basically a cheat if you get lazy.

The Verdict
Overall, Subway Surfers hasn’t changed much since it first came out but in the best way possible. Sometimes games take us back to old times and this game is definitely full of nostalgia. Although it’s had a bit of an upgrade, it’s kept to its roots and still has the same well-known theme song.
