First up on Casual Gaming News this week:
Xbox Touch Controls Make Mobile Cloud Gaming Feel More Natural
Microsoft is really pushing its Xbox game streaming, both with “local” Remote Play as well as cloud gaming via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, previously known as Project xCloud. But while the likes of Google’s Stadia initially aimed from TVs via the Chromecast, Xbox cloud gaming prioritized a more mobile experience. Gaming on smartphones, however, doesn’t always have the same feel, especially when there are no physical controllers available. That’s why Xbox is now rolling out its new Touch Controls to improve its cloud game streaming experience with a twist.
Touch controls aren’t for everyone, especially for those hardcore gamers, however, this is perfect for those who want a feel for the game on the go. If you want to play Xbox games on your phone but don’t want to carry a controller around with you, this is perfect as you won’t feel like you need to.

‘Slam Dunk’ Mobile Game Now Up For Beta Testing
FOR many, the Slam Dunk anime is the god tier of all sports series. Decades on, and it still holds a special place in the hearts of many Pinoy hoopsters who watched it on TV. App developer DeNA Hong Kong Limited is rolling out the anime’s official mobile game, developed in partnership with Toei Animation, the studio that produced it. It just launched its closed beta but is limiting sign-ups to just 30,000 players in the Asian region. Slam Dunk Mobile allows you to play through ten chapters from the original story. “Reminisce that youthful summer, and watch the development pathway of the Shohoku Basketball rookie – Hanamichi Sakuragi,” said the brand.
If you’re in the Asian region, make sure you try to get on this as the description of the Slam Dunk game sounds like an absolute treat! We’re jealous we can’t try it out just yet, but hopefully, we can in the near future!

New My Hero Academia Mobile Game Announced
This game was announced in the hit Japanese shounen manga magazine Jump in an upcoming issue. The game’s translated title is My Hero Academia Ultra Impact. The announcement however is not official yet as some magazine subscribers have received their issues earlier than intended. As this was announced in a Japanese magazine, it is unknown on the status of an official English translation for this mobile game will be released if at all. Anime-based gacha games have failed before with the recent closing of Magia Record‘s servers from Puella Magi Madoka Magica still being fresh in anime fans’ minds.
Again, if you happen to live in Japan, you’re very lucky you get to have access to this game! We can’t wait to give it a go when we have the chance as we love My Hero Academia as an anime!

Genshin Impact is a Revolution For Traditional Free-to-Play
Back when Genshin Impact was first announced last year, this lush open-world adventure bore some key similarities to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Now, over a year on, Genshin Impact still hasn’t shaken those comparisons, but since the release of 1.0 last week it’s clear it’s so much more than a free-to-play clone of Nintendo’s finest. That’s evident from the numbers alone: Genshin Impact is now the “biggest global launch of a Chinese game ever”, and is currently on track to gross more than $100 Million in its first month alone.
If you’ve been playing Genshin Impact, you’ll know exactly why this game is revolutionary. Not only is it similar to Breath of the Wild (which by the way, is a $60 game), but it’s extremely fun to play!
