Gameplay
On the more simpler side of the casual gaming spectrum, we have Jelly Shift. There has been an influx of games similar by SayGames that are dominating the top charts on the app store. Jelly Shift stood out to me as it looked like one of those games where you really have to concentrate because there are changes all the time.
Moving your finger up and down to control your jelly, you have to make sure your jelly can fit through every jelly that comes in your way. If you don’t fit through, the obstacle will break and it’ll slow you down – as far as I know, you don’t lose any points for this.
Graphics
As far as graphics go, they’re pretty basic. There is a plain blue background along with your jelly, which starts off as red but as you collect gems, you can customize your jelly. I currently have a fox and a cat.
Nothing lags and I like the fact there is a shadow in front of you that’ll show you whether you’ll fit through the shapes or not – this gives you a little bit of extra time to decide before you crash.
Music & Sounds
Most of these popular mini-games don’t have sounds so I was shocked when Jelly Shift did. Sounds are made as you go through the shapes, and it gets progressively higher as you get closer to the end. There isn’t any music, though, but I don’t find that to be a big deal.
Controls
The controls are very simple: all you need to do is drag up to make your jelly bigger and drag down to make your jelly smaller. There is no chance of you getting confused by the controls of Jelly Shift, this is one simple game to play.
The Power of in-app Purchases
The store isn’t full of much but there are a few things you can purchase with your real money, however you can buy the removal of ads for £2.99. But wait right there! I have found a hack that removes the ads for free; turn airplane mode on and you won’t get any!
For gems, you can purchase jelly and animals, but you can’t purchase gems on their own. You have to play the game. You can also earn gems by liking Estoty and SayGames Facebook and Instagram pictures at 50 gems each. Doing this could earn you 200 gems!
The Verdict
Jelly Shift is definitely one of those games that you only play for a few minutes if you can get through the ads that pop up every 2 minutes. However, if you’re able to put your phone on airplane mode for a few minutes, it’s definitely worth it.
I’m not going to keep Jelly Shift, but it’s been one of my favorite mini-games as of yet!
