Hey Casual Gamers! Does the world seem boring and dull at times? Role Playing Games are usually my favorites because they offer what life would be like in a distant land…
Epic Seven offers excellent 2D art and an epic that many hardcore RPGers grew up with. Does that translate well to today’s standards?
Time to pack a few potions and weapons to journey into this casual review of Epic Seven!
Gameplay
As the Heir of the Covenant, saving the world from the vile Archdemon is the only way to restore peace to the lands!
Epic Seven removes you from the current world you are in into a vast expansive world that’s accessible on your phone!
With tutorials to guide your every step this easily becomes eye candy! With a vivid storyline and memorable characters, this casual app has what it takes to survive a Keep or Delete!
Graphics
Did I already mention Eye Candy? With cutscenes, flashy attack animations, and a highly detailed world map, it’s almost enough to bring RPG style tears to me eyes. +1 to my feels!
Even the battle graphics are out of control. The action based style of fighting is reminiscent of so many great RPGs in the past.
The interactive map that shows which direction to go (2D art that has interactive stages!) will ensure that you are never lost during a quest.
I stumbled on to Epic Seven, and had no idea what I’ve gotten myself into. Now, I’m glad the winds of randomness has shown me this gem of a casual app!
Music
So, for the sake of reviewing, the only ding I could think of in Epic Seven was that a great deal of the dialogue isn’t spoken. While that’s not really an issue, mainly because reading is fun, it can be a little inconsistent with the rest of the vocals in the game.
This shouldn’t deter you away from playing Epic Seven by a long shot. There’s actually a button to skip all the text if you should care less for it.
Outside of all that’s been said, Epic Seven also has the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard on a mobile RPG. Not only is it easy on the ears, it’s pretty soothing to just idle in the lobby screen and having your collected heroes
Controls
For the first few quest, everything will be touch. Then there’s a wonderful auto feature that will auto walk and attack in dungeons. While there’s some coolness to clicking and attacking, it’s a playing boon to have auto movement.
Epic Seven is littered with menus and place to get lost. The tutorial does a good job handling direction.
In battles, it’s also possible to choose what monster the team will attack. This helps in clearing levels quickly and efficiently!
The Power of in-app Purchases
Good gravy, do I love choices! I feel as though I’m close to mid level and I’ve yet to find a need to make a purchase. Looking at the items in the packs and options offered, Summoning and crystals seem to be the best bet.
Truthfully, anything that has some type of monthly deal would be the best bang for your buck. I don’t know what the pvp scene looks like yet, but as in any game, anyone who slaps a few bucks into this game will be shown.
The biggest question is still what to buy? I suppose if you are starting off or looking for a certain hero in particular, a Tier List might help put you in the right direction.
The Verdict
This is one of those must play RPGs. Epic Seven delivers the best parts of RPGs and action at the same time.
If you really aren’t into grand story lines and dialogue, the skip button works just fine. The battle system alone and the fancy special arts is more than enough to keep playing.
The ease of starting a few quest then leaving to do something else has never been easier. The harder thing will be how to put this casual RPG down long enough to do something else!
Don’t miss out on what could be the best mobile adventure of a lifetime!
