Gameplay
Hot Wheels Infinite Loop starts with Vert Wheeler giving you a tutorial on how to be a Looper. As you start the game, you’re told how to use the controls and get to the end of the race track. Once that’s done, you’re put into your first race with bots (but will later be real people). The aim of the game is to look for the gates and to drive through them to earn more time. Outlast the opposite team to win! The first few games were really easy with my team winning every time, however, they do get harder and you’re more likely to crash into things. When you crash, you explode and it takes a few seconds to put you back into the game so you end up losing time.
Graphics
I thought the graphics were really impressive – they were colorful, detailed, and 3D based. My only issue was the game lagging at times, especially when the course started to get harder. I found that the lag was ruining my place in the race, and it should definitely be fixed by the developer.
Music & Sounds
If you’re big on racing games, you’ll know that Hot Wheels Infinite Loop has that typical racing music that you see in most games of the same genre. It gets annoying at times, but it isn’t a big deal because the gameplay is so fun.
Controls
Although the controls are simple, there’s quite a bit to remember:
- hold the left arrow to steer left
- hold the right arrow to steer right
- tap on the Nitro to activate the boost
- tap on the Nitro again when Nitro reaches the blue bar to activate Nitro flash
- hold the button above the left arrow to drift – the steering is automatic when you’re drifting
- releasing the drift at the right time will give you a solid speed boost
Don’t get overwhelmed, though, I actually found the controls really easy to follow and made a substantial impact on where I placed in the gameplay.

The Verdict
As of recently, my new favorite racing game is Mario Kart Tour (if you’re not playing it, what are you doing?!) but Hot wheels Infinite Loop is definitely up there in the top 10. If you remember playing with Hot Wheels as a kid, this is the perfect game for you to get that little taste of nostalgia. I would definitely recommend!
