Gameplay
Power Painter is here to bring you a cross between paintballing and tower defense. The aim of the game is to destroy the enemy’s bubbles with your paintballs before they reach the end of the trail. To do this, you need to merge numbers and towers to make the most powerful tower possible.
Although the gameplay isn’t my usual cup of tea, I did enjoy Power Painter’s gameplay to an extent. It was fun trying to make the highest probability of numbers to level up my towers and shoot the enemy’s bubbles. However, this game doesn’t require a lot of work. You can treat it like an idle sim game and watch the magic happen – as long as you have powerful enough towers that is.
You can also earn cash in order to merge numbers so it is extremely similar to an idle sim game in that aspect.
Graphics
The graphics were very basic, which is not a big deal for a type of game like this. When it comes to a game where you just need to protect your tower, how detailed does it really need to be? I have no problem with this as not every mobile game has to have console graphics.
Music & Sounds
It definitely came as a surprise to me when I heard a classical type of music when I first entered the game. It’s the last thing I’d expect in a tower defense game, especially since all of the others I’ve played have had fast-paced music.
However, the sounds definitely fit in more with the genre with the splatting noises. It doesn’t exactly match with classical music but maybe that’s the point.
Controls
To control the game, all you need to do is drag the number to merge them and create the tower. After that, all you have to do is just hope and pray you’ve generated enough power to take down the towers.

While Power Painter has no single in-app purchases, you can purchase a premium membership. This consists of:

- 3x offline earnings
- permanent boosters
- extra tower spot
- no ads
You can grab all of this for £6.99 a week.
I do think this is quite expensive for what you get. £28 a month on a free tower defense game doesn’t seem worth the money when there are so many TD games out there that offer much better deals.
The Verdict
Power Painter is up against a lot of tower defense games and I have to say, it didn’t do it for me. This won’t be staying on my phone as there are just others I prefer. If you’re new to tower defense games, this might just be the perfect start for you seeing as it’s easy to play and simple looking. I also think the premium subscription is majorly overpriced and I doubt many people are paying for it.
