Hey Casual Gamers!
If you have read any of the random postings I’ve made over the past few years, you would know that Monopoly is one of my favorite games! Flash forward many board games later and now there’s plenty of ways to enjoy Monopoly on your phone or tablet!
MONOPOLY Solitaire offers a new spin on both games. While playing solitaire you can interact with the Monopoly board. Is this worth you casual time? Lets flip the cards to find out!
Gameplay
MONOPOLY Solitaire: Card Game starts off with a minor tutorial that’s rather helpful with learning the game. Basically, you are in a race to reach 10,000 gold dollars before the other tokens on the board.
The only way to do this is to play solitaire. Progressing in solitaire awards energy for rolls and Silver spades. Silver spades are used as currency to buy property on the board.
Thankfully this is a quicker version of Monopoly! While trekking across the board, buying property is the same, and a house comes with it too. Also, should you land on a property that belongs to another player, there’s an option of taking their property. This of course cost more silver spades than just buying a property.
This casual app is surprisingly competitive! It’s odd saying that and there’s no other real players playing, but the bots are just as eager to finish the game as you are!
Graphics
MONOPOLY: Solitaire: Card Game has well placed board and table. The fluid changes from solitaire and the Monopoly board adds to the addictiveness of play. It shows massive attention to detail when every part of the game shines.
Outside of the commercials baked into this casual app, it’s visuals is just another great reason not to put it down.
Music & Sounds
Sound isn’t entirely needed while playing this casual app, but you won’t be disappointed if you plug some headphones in while playing. There’s a nice waiting music theme going throughout the game while making solitaire decisions. Most of your queues come from successful moves or something happening on the board.
It would be a pleasure to mute out the ads, but outside of that it’s actually worth your casual hear space!
Controls
If you don’t happen to be the best solitaire player out there, don’t worry, MONOPOLY: Solitaire has you covered!
The best part of playing is when you can’t make a move, most of the time your card will head to the most optimal play when it’s clicked on. This means that when you are feeling stuck, poking a few cards might reveal what you couldn’t see.
Everything else is really click and go. Thankfully this is all we should except from a casual app.
The Power of in-app Purchases
Not many people will believe this, but there’s not one purchase to make in MONOPOLY: Solitaire!
Not one that was found, anyway. Truthfully all prizes come from completing games and moving the experience bar at the top of the lobby screen. The move xp received the more tokens will unlock.
Now there are some ads to sit through, but thankfully it’s done in a tasteful manner. After running out of moves in solitaire, you can request a new deal and get a fresh solitaire setup. This is where an advertisement will kick in.
Most of them aren’t too annoying, and some can be clicked through faster than others. An option to have no ads would have been amazing, but I suppose putting my phone down for half a minute isn’t that horrible, right?
The Verdict
Overall, I love this casual app. I’m sure I won’t be able to put it down anytime soon!
I’ve never been much of a solitaire lover, but it’s fun enough when it’s combined with a great game. Here’s to hoping that eventually more boards will be updated along with many many more tokens!
