Hey Casual Gamers!
Everyone has those type of games only they know about and love. I have a few in my phone I play and wonder if I should ever write about them (hint, I will).
So lets talk about a completely awesome and FREE casual app called Data Wing!
The story gets a bit strange, but it starts making more sense as you play. You are data inside of computer device and Mother is giving you all of the rules! Follow them and she rewards you with gems! As you continue to learn how to drift and navigate the computer, Mother’s commands become irrational and strange. Now it’s up to the data to find the anomaly and restore balance!
I have to admit the story is pretty solid. The best way to describe this is a racing simulator with a trippy twist. It’s extremely easy to get sucked into the computer and be the Data Wing of destiny!
I love these graphics. Dan Vogt nailed the futuristic look with a very minimal feeling to it. All of the menus and time tracking is slanted, so don’t freak out, just get ready to go drifting!
Data Wing is extremely basic as well. There’s not a ton of other menus to sit through, which is just casually epic to me!
So I know I can have a strange taste in music but the music in this casual app speaks to me! Mother can be very demanding, and this music is what you need to navigate through this deep story.
The sound effects and noises are pretty minimal too. Unless you crash and don’t stop hitting the wall. That only happens when you try to record a game 🙂
The controls are completely simple! Just tap the left or right of your screen to navigate your data the way you want it to go!
There’s where the simplicity ends! Tapping too hard will send your data flying in the wrong direction, or more common, crashing into a wall. Walls are good however, as drifting will give a speed boost. This leads to some really epic laps and replays!
Other Data Wings can show up depending on the scenario. Most of the time it will just be a replay of your best lap. This comes in handy when attempting to max out achievements.
Outside of racing there are some mini-games that require a some thinking to solve. I can always appreciate simple puzzles tucked into action.
The Power of in-app Purchases
Well, this is a first! Dan Vogt has gifted us with the most ultimate of gifts: A Free Game! It’s like Christmas in July, but it’s March….anyway!
Data Wing is completely free to download and play! Not even one commercial! This is the rarest gem of the appstore, and for this we are happy to receive!
You can’t find another casual app like this. Data Wing offers a deep story that has twist and turns at every level! The music is borderline sublime and there’s nothing to interrupt gameplay.
In a world of fremium gaming, Data Wing dares to stand out and be different than the rest. This was an enjoyable experience and will find a great place in my phone.
