Gameplay
Color Waves is a relaxing game where you collect orbs with the same colors to create peaceful music as if you’re playing your own melody. Orbs of different colors will fall faster and faster in time with the music. You must quickly match the orbs of the same colors before your screen fills up. If your screen fills up, it’s game over. If you’re stuck, matching the clear orbs will clear your screen and give you some points as well.
This puzzle not only tests your coordination skills but also helps relax and make you feel at ease.
Graphics
The theme of Color waves is a soft gradient red background. The orbs are solid colors and they fall down with ease. There is a path that follows the orbs and they explode when you match them together. There is also a score tracker at the top of the screen. This number increases when you match the colors.
This game works smoothly, but I would be confused if it lagged. There isn’t much going on – and it isn’t a large file to download.
Music
As I have already mentioned, the orbs fall down in time with the music and they get faster as the music becomes faster. The sounds of the orbs being matched are very relaxing, however, it becomes a lot less relaxing when the orbs are coming quickly. The music starts to stress me out.
Controls
The controls are very simple. The orbs will fall down by themselves, the only thing you need to do is to swipe the matching colors together. That’s it. Probably the most simple controls I’ve ever come across – but as this is advertised as a relaxing game, there can’t be anything complicated and stressful.
The Power of in-app Purchases
There are no coins or gems that are available to purchase, however, there is an option to remove ads forever for £2.99. If I’m honest, throughout my time on this app, I didn’t see any ads at all. So I personally wouldn’t make this purchase. Although, it might be the case that as you play the game for a while, more ads come.
The Verdict
I had been looking for a game that was relaxing and not stressful for a long time. Playing a relaxing game on a Friday night after the stresses of the week would be perfect – but I couldn’t find one. I definitely think Color Waves is about to fill that void for me. My favorite part of Color Waves was the calming colors and the soft music – it’s perfect for calming down anxious moments.
