Apple Arcade is Here!

Apple Arcade is Here!

Apple’s App Store has always been known for its innovative games that have got people addicted to their screens. Candy Crush, Flappy Bird, you name it. You’ve been addicted to at least one. Now they’ve taken it up a notch and have released a subscription service called Apple Arcade to give you unlimited access to a whole bunch of new games. And do you know what the best part is? It only costs $4.99 a month for the whole family!

Apple Arcade doesn’t have an app but instead lives in the app store where you can download the featured games. I had a look through and downloaded the games that I thought looked the most interesting and I was pleasantly surprised. The graphics on some of them are mind-blowing for a mobile game – you don’t wanna miss this one!

WHAT THE GOLF?

WHAT THE GOLF? was the first game I came across on Apple Arcade and I was intrigued by the weird video that started playing. So of course, I downloaded it. The game starts with a normal game of golf where you hit the ball into the hole. But wait, that’s not all. As you continue, the game gets weirder. Your character turns into the ball. Yup, drag down to hit and your character will roll (messily) across the field. The level after that, it’s your golf club that becomes the ball – you get the idea! WHAT THE GOLF? is described as a golf game for people who hate golf.

Frogger in Toy Town

If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure this game was featured in the Apple Keynote when they were talking about Apple Arcade. I thought Frogger in Toy Town looked super fun, and the graphics were great. The aim of the game is to get through Toy Town and rescue all of the froglets. Avoid obstacles like building blocks, or toy cars. I really enjoyed Frogger in Toy Town although it was pretty easy to play in my opinion.

Sonic Racing

If you’re loving Mario Kart Tour, Sonic Racing is another game you need to add on your list from Apple Arcade. Again, the graphics are amazing and the controls are pretty similar to Mario Kart Tour. It’s always nice to see familiar faces like Sonic the Hedgehog on the app store!

Murder Mystery Machine

Murder Mystery Machine is an interactive mystery puzzle game. It’s played in episodes and it’s your job to get to the bottom of the murder of a politician. I liked this game and found it very different from anything else on Apple Arcade, but it probably isn’t something I’d play again.

Word Laces

Similar to Word Cookies, Word Laces is a puzzle game where you swipe to match letters to make a word. The difference is, you get a picture to help you with the words and the aim of the game is to collect shoes. Loop, link, and weave your way through 1000 puzzles!

And there are so many more cool games to discover… check out the free trial now!

What do we think of Apple Arcade?

I’ve heard mixed reviews about Apple Arcade. The vast majority of people think it’s awesome that Apple is supporting these amazing game developers while offering it at such a low price. Others, however, think the price is far too low and should be $9.99 a month. In my opinion, for the number of games you get in the subscription, the price is fair. However, as time goes by and they add more games, they’ll need to increase the price for it to be sustainable. For now, it’s fine and it’s awesome that they give you a month free trial to see if it’s right for you!

Apple Arcade stops the frustration of downloading free games and then having to pay $9.99 just for 200 diamonds! At least this way you know that with this small monthly subscription when you download a game from the arcade, you get the full package.

If you decide to give Apple Arcade a go, let us know your thoughts and which game you enjoy the most! Happy gaming and stay casual!
