Gameplay

The gameplay is very similar to PUBG Mobile!

On The Casual App Gamer, we’re really big fans of Battle Royale games. They’re fun, fast-paced and a great way to make gaming friends! Our all-time favorites are PUBG Mobile and Fortnite, but today we have Garena Free Fire which was recommended to us by the app store.

If I’m going to be completely honest with you, the gameplay is exactly the same as PUBG Mobile – to the T. There were slight differences, of course, but even the type of guns you can use were similar. The major difference was that you’re not put into teams, and you can’t use your microphone to talk to other players. Which although, I never talk in PUBG Mobile, I do think it’s a nice feature and a brilliant way to make friends or just shout down the mic like most of the teenage boys on the app!

Graphics

The graphics are also similar to PUBG Mobile!

The graphics are also very similar to PUBG Mobile – they’re dark, pretty decent quality and the characters move well. My only issue was that everything took ages to load constantly, and I know it wasn’t my WiFi so that’s important to keep in mind.

Music & Sounds

As for the music in the actual gameplay, there’s not a lot to say. There’s music that drastically stops once you hit the ground and from then on, all you can hear are footsteps and gunshots like most battle royale games. It would be hard for Garena Free Fire to have music as you need to hear footsteps in order to know if someone is creeping up behind you.

Controls

Control with buttons on the left and right-hand side of the screen!

Just like PUBG Mobile, when you first enter the game, you’re in a plane that you need to jump out of. Once you’re on the map, you are surrounded by an array of guns and other items you need. To run, move the toggle button on the left-hand side of the screen. To shoot, hit the shoot button on the right-hand side of the screen and you can also zoom in with the button next to it. Also on the right-hand side of the screen, you can crouch, lay down and jump. Like PUBG Mobile, to pick up a gun, all you have to do is walk up to it.

The Verdict

What did you think of Garena Free Fire?

There’s nothing wrong with the overall gameplay for Garena Free Fire, but it’s just too similar other games *cough PUBG Mobile* and it’s just not enough to get me to keep the game on my phone.

If you decide to download Garena Free Fire, let us know what you think and if you agree or disagree with the things we said. Happy gaming and stay casual!
