First up on Casual Gaming News this week:

The Witcher: Monster Slayer Announced, an Augmented Reality Mobile Game

CD Projekt announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer today that will utilize augmented-reality and real-life location-based gameplay to deliver an RPG experience. Spokko, the mobile gaming studio of CD Projekt that was established in 2018, is in charge of the new project. Although the game will be set in the same Witcher universe as CD Projekt RED’s popular trilogy, it is described as a prequel that won’t see Geralt of Rivia for “for hundreds of more years.” Players will be tracking down, studying, and hunting monsters while utilizing the real-world time of day and weather conditions to their benefit. Just like in the original trilogy, players will be able to brew potions and oils, craft bombs, and upgrade their skills to make the task of taking down tougher monsters easier.

The Witcher is a great game series by itself, but the fact there’s a prequel coming to mobile makes us very excited. It’ll be interesting to dive into the Witcher universe years before Geralt of Rivia came into the scene. We can’t wait to review this one!

PUBG Mobile v1.0 Will Land on September 8, Overhauling the Game With Massive Improvements

PUBG Corporation has just announced that a slew of improvements are coming with the update to version 1.0 this September. This is so the game will offer a smoother experience for eSports. PUBG Mobile World League and the World Championship are going to be combined this November into one event called PUBG Mobile Global Championship, which will offer a $2-million prize pool. Improvements are coming to characters and environments, with more realistic effects for shooting in the mix as well. Actions like sprinting, throwing, and parachuting will be improved too. The game’s lighting system and texture qualities are also getting an overhaul. It would also seem the UI is getting a rework.

PUBG Mobile hasn’t had any significant updates in a while, so this news is more than exciting. If you’ve been playing the game a while, you’ll be familiar with the graphics and while there’s nothing wrong with them, we do think it’s time for an upgrade. PUBG Mobile has a lot of work to do now Fortnite isn’t on the app store again – it’s time to reclaim their number one spot!

GTA Online Accounts Are Getting Completely Reset

GTA 5 Online accounts and characters are getting completely wiped by Rockstar Games. As you may know, a money glitch has been making the rounds, often referred to as the apartment glitch. With the glitch, players can rack up massive amounts of money very quickly. And like every glitch of this variety in the past, many players participated in it, and now those players’ accounts are being wiped of all their money, or in some cases, their entire characters are being wiped. As Rockstar Games reporter and insider Tez2 notes, those who utilized the glitch have been getting notified that their accounts have been wiped clean to varying degrees depending on how often the user has participated in glitches of this ilk. For example, some players have only had all of their money wiped from their account. Others have lost their entire character and progress.

Calm down, calm down, if you didn’t participate in the glitch, you won’t have your account deleted. Personally, we think that glitches and mods are part of the fun when it comes to online games, however, we understand that it’s frustrating for companies when users take advantage of their services.

Primark, As In The Shop, Is Releasing A Mobile Game, Because Why Not

Primark Legends casts the player as a newly hired assistant in a Primark store. They’ll have to help customers find the clothes they’re after, keep the shelves neat and tidy, clean up any spills and messes, and trackback and forth to the stockroom to ensure that everything that should be on the shop floor is. There are also balloons to pop, toys lost by customers to find, and conga lines, apparently.

If you’re from or have ever been to the UK, you’ll be familiar with the shop Primark – where you can find pretty much anything at a really low price point. It’s strange to us that they’d develop a mobile game before making an online store, but it looks like fun so we’re definitely up for giving it a go! After all, we do love CASUAL app games.

Fortnite is Splitting into Two Different Games Because of Epic and Apple’s Fight

Fortnite’s next season arrived on the 27th of August, but if you’re on iOS or macOS, you won’t be able to play it. And we’re learning that’s not all: players on iPhone, iPad, and Mac will also lose cross-play Fortnite multiplayer with non-Apple platforms, Epic confirms to The Verge. Essentially, the legal fight with Apple will, in short order, split Fortnite into two. On PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android, Fortnite players will have access to all of the new content that’s set to arrive with the new season. Most new Fortnite seasons pack in significant changes, including updates to the map, new cosmetics, and new in-game rewards as part of the game’s battle pass subscription. On Apple devices, though, players will miss out on all of that new content. The game will basically be in stasis.

It’s disappointing that the legal battle between Apple and Epic has got to the point where it’s ruining Apple player’s experience. If you have a PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, or Android, we really recommend downloading it on one of those. It doesn’t seem like it’ll go back to normal in the near future.
