Gameplay

Fight Wraiths with your skills!

Perfect World Mobile is an MMORPG that was originally released in in 2005 on Windows. I personally hadn’t heard of Perfect World until I saw an ad for it while playing another casual game, but it looked good so I thought I’d give it a run.

When you first enter the game, you enter a server and make your own character. The detail in which you can design your character is amazing – for example, you can make their eyes really wide apart or make their ears high up on their face. The possibilities are endless and go far beyond eye and hair color.

After you design your character, there’s a bit of a story to watch to find out information about the gameplay but I won’t go into that because it was pretty long-winded.

Overall, you play as an elf, attack Wraith’s and meet other players.

Graphics

The graphics aren’t anything special for an MMORPG, however, you can change it how you like!

Visually, there’s nothing special about Perfect World Mobile. In terms of the graphics, this game looks pretty much the same as every other MMORPG like World of Worldcraft or Runescape. I saw a lot of errors in the graphics, like low-resolution art and ugly patches all over the place. Perfect World Mobile also gives you the option to select a camera mode:

And the preferred style of color calibration:

I went with wuxia because it made the game look the most colorful and vibrant. It’s rare to come across a game where it lets you choose how it looks.

Music & Sounds

Being a mystical MMORPG, the sounds and music included are very on-brand for the genre. Your own personal character doesn’t talk and you have to read what she says from the script, however, other characters do say a few sentences here and there. When it comes to games with a long storyline, I really do find it important to have actual voices on the character because it’s easy to be driven away from having so much reading to do. If I wanted to read, I wouldn’t be gaming!

Controls

The controls are pretty complicated!

The controls are where it becomes a bit more complicated. As you come into contact with Wraiths, you’re told by your tutorial helper to tap and hold the joystick on the left-hand side of the screen to move ahead. On the bottom right-hand side of the screen there are 5 buttons; a normal attack button, a skill button, another skill button, another skill button, and yet another skill button. There’s a lot to remember in terms of what attack to use, but most of the time while playing I just hit any old button and hoped for the best.

The Power of in-app Purchases

There’s an overwhelming amount of items you can purchase on the store!

The store on Perfect World Mobile is extremely packed and complicated with the things you can purchase so I’m not going to mention everything. It’s split up into 6 sections, and there are also 5 different sections in a different part of the game.

The Verdict

What did you think of Perfect World Mobile?

For your typical MMORPG, Perfect World Mobile wasn’t a terrible game, but there wasn’t anything, in particular, that gave me the wow factor. I am partial to games with storylines, however, I wasn’t happy with how much the game lagged and how much space it took up on my phone (a whopping 3.67GB).

I am most definitely going to delete this game to make room for better, unique games. However, if you’re a big MMORPG player, Perfect World Mobile might just be your thing!
