Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel Gameplay

Fight to the death!

I’m not going to lie to you, my first reaction to this game was “What the hell?”. It’s definitely not what I expected it to be and not in a good way. The game to me looks like a cross between Fortnite and Minecraft except with a much smaller budget. There is a Battle mode where you join a room that has been made by a player – and some of them are awful. Of course, the first room I entered was called Fortnite because I thought it would look like a Minecraft version of the game – and it kind of did.

There’s also a Battle Royale mode that allows you to go through survival, exploration, and scavenging until the death. It’s your job to make sure you’re the last man standing.

I noticed that when you go into rooms, there’s no talking going on in the chat. Which I expected because they warned you it in the T&Cs (Yes, I read them). I don’t know if I just went in boring rooms or what, but unfortunately, there was no chit chat which I thought would make the game feel more personal.

Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel Graphics

The graphics are similar to Minecraft!

Like I said previously, the graphics are a lot similar to Minecraft. In fact, it’s almost identical. But that doesn’t mean the graphics are bad – I actually really like them. I just wish it didn’t feel like an exact copy of another game.

The startup screen, menu, and buttons all look very colorful and crisp, though and that’s always a winner for me.

Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel Music

The music in the main menu is repetitive and becomes exceedingly annoying after a while. You can also hear random gunshots in the background that doesn’t even fit in time with the music so I’m not sure what that’s all about.

During the actual gameplay, there is no music, but there are a lot of sounds going on. Like explosions, shooting, groaning noises, and footsteps. These are all nice editions and make the game a lot more interesting. I prefer this to annoyingly repetitive music that is going to make me want to stop playing the game.

Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel Controls

Control your player with the buttons shown!

The controls are easy to use. You drag the left side of the screen to move around, and the right side of the screen to turn around. This isn’t as easy to move around as it sounds – it definitely took me a while to get used to the controls before getting shot at. At the bottom of the screen are your weapons, and you just tap the one you want to equip. You click the bullet button to shoot, the button above to reload your weapon and the button underneath to jump. Anyway, I finally got a kill after about 50 attempts. Once I got killing, I couldn’t stop. I’m pretty much the master of this game now!

Another cool part of the game I didn’t realize until quite a way into the game was that you can move the controls around the screen and make them bigger/smaller to fit your preference. This was good as I said before, it was pretty hard to move around at first, but once I moved around the controls and made the ‘fire’ button a lot bigger, then I was much happier. I think this should be a common feature for shooting games as this can make or break whether a game is actually good or not. I doubt you would continue playing a game that had complicated controls, and I certainly wouldn’t!

Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel The power of in-app purchases

Customize your character!

There are quite a few little extras you can get in the store, such as:

And with those gems and coins, you can purchase new guns, skins, and armor for your character. Guns are definitely the only thing that’ll help you progress in this game (although technically, you can’t really progress, but you know, get better at it). Skins and armor just make you look nice.

The verdict
What did you think of Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel?

Do I like this game? Yes. Would I play it again? No.

Why?

Hear me out. The gameplay is great and I love that you can play against people from all over the world – and add them as friends. However, the game is slow (sometimes I could hear the game in the background but I’d be stuck on the loading screen so my character would die before I even got the chance to play). It’s just not something I have enough patience for and I think it would run a lot better with a PC version or if you have a super fast new phone model.

My favorite mode to play was battle because I was able to choose a room depending on the name and style, and I could clearly see how many people were in a room. My favorite room was Room 853 which was desert themed. I liked it because there were many cool hiding spots and there didn’t seem to be too many people in the room where you’re literally being bombarded with gunshots because you can’t quite figure out how to use the controls.

Overall, this is probably aimed at someone younger than me. Perhaps 15-16 year olds. Definitely give it a go anyway!

Cops N Robbers(FPS): 3D Pixel overall rating: 3/5
