We’re back again with another beginner’s guide. We feel it is important to give everyone help when it comes to starting new games. We were all beginners once! Today we have a beginner’s guide on Legends of Runeterra – if you haven’t read our review yet, check it out here.
Legends of Runeterra is a card game that is set in the world of League of Legends. LoL is loved by many so Legends of Runeterra had a massive hype around it during its release. When we reviewed this game, we found it a little tricky to get into so we thought it would be a great idea to share our knowledge so you too can get used to what all the cards mean and stand for.
Although Legends of Runeterra has in-app purchases, it’s possible to play the game without spending a penny. If a player sticks to free-to-play, there are constant rewards that’ll get them through the game. Chests with cards and resources can be rewarded even by just leveling up each region. Simple as!
In LoR, it’s so important to play the tutorials in order to understand the gameplay properly. When players enter the game, they’re thrown into four tutorials. Each tutorial introduces a new champion and how to defeat them. Once players are done with these tutorials, they’re on their own. However, there are a lot of streamers available on Twitch and YouTube who can help players familiarize themselves with the gameplay.
There are different regions with different cards, playstyle, and champions. The regions are:
Slow, fast, and burst are the three different spell speeds in this game.
Decks in LoR have to have exactly 40 cards so if players try to draw a card once they’ve run out, they will immediately lose the game. If both players run out of cards at the same time, which is more likely than you think, then the game will end as a tie. Always, always, always keep an eye on how many cards you have left.
As already mentioned, a deck contains 40 cards and the maximum number of duplicates of the same card in a deck is 3. Players can also use up to 6 champions in a single deck.
When building a custom deck, it’s recommended that players try to get 6 champions in so they can be drawn as often as possible. However, in order to have cards from a certain region, players need to have a champion from that region. So in conclusion, players need a champion from each region if they want to use multiple regions in their deck.
By now you should have a few pointers under your belt in order to smash your way through your first few Legends of Runeterra matches. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
