Gameplay
If you’re sick of the average racing game with the same old controls, Type Run is here to bring you something a lil different. As a writer, I was more than happy to see a typing racing game – it’s so on-brand for me, I just couldn’t say no to downloading it.
If you hadn’t guessed already, in order to move your character to the finish line, you need to type the sentence on the screen as fast as you can. As a plus, the sentences are usually facts so you get to learn things along the way.
Graphics
When I saw this game was made by Voodoo, I knew that the graphics wouldn’t be the best. The characters are very simple looking against a very plain blue background. I’d say I expected more, but I didn’t.
Music & Sounds
As expected, there’s no music included in the gameplay and the only sound you can hear is the keyboard. Luckily for me, I’ve always found the typing sound on an iPhone keyboard satisfying so I liked it.
Controls
To control your character, just type. That’s literally it!
You gain points for combos but you’ll break your combos if you type the wrong letter so make sure you focus on the letters you’re typing.
The Power of in-app Purchases
Type Run doesn’t offer any in-app purchases that help with the gameplay, however, you can remove all ads for only £2.99. There are quite a lot of ads, so it might be worth the purchase.
The Verdict
Although it’s a shame the graphics aren’t up to scratch, I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this game. I’ve never seen anything like it before and it really tests your brain. As someone who types a lot, I thought I’d be better at it, but it’s harder than it looks.
