Gameplay

Be the last man standing!

Another battle royale game? Nooooo! Wait… this one is a little different from the others we’ve reviewed. If you’ve played an io game before, you’ll know that they’re typically low-quality games visually, but weirdly addicting. I had actually never heard of Surviv.io before, despite playing a lot of the io games, and I was confused by how exactly it was going to work.

From a birds-eye view, you are a circle with fists, and you need to explore the map in order to find items – most importantly, guns. If you don’t have a gun, all you have are your fists, and you’re going to most likely die if you come across someone who’s all kitted out.

You can play in 3 different modes: solo, duo and 50 v 50. Solo, you play alone against everyone else. Duo, you have a team of 3 other people. And with 50 v 50, the teams are split in half, giving you more chance of winning as half the people on the map are on your team.

Graphics

The graphics are questionable!

The graphics are definitely questionable, but as I mentioned, the vast majority of io games don’t have the best graphics. It seems as if they purposely look this way, and it doesn’t seem to bother loyal players. So that’s definitely a win for Justin Kim.

Music & Sounds

The music and sounds I’m not a fan of. The music when on the menu is annoying, but luckily when you enter the game, the music turns off and it’s quiet. During the actual gameplay, all you can hear are footsteps, shooting, water, exploding – all the normal sounds during a battle royale game. My only issue is how low quality the sounds are, they’re not exactly the most pleasant to listen to. The problem is, the sounds need to be on so you can hear the footsteps of the opposing team.

Controls

Control your player with the two joysticks!

To control your player, the left joystick will move him around, and the right one will make him attack. At the bottom, you will see how much ammo you have left and you can tap it to refill more.

The Power of in-app Purchases

From what I can see, there are no in-app purchases or ads in Surviv.io. I could be totally wrong, but during my time playing and analyzing Surviv.io, I found nothing. This is great for those casual app gamers out there who don’t want to pay money.

The Verdict

What did you think of Surviv.io?!

If I’m honest, Surviv.io wasn’t for me. I can name you a long list of Battle Royale games that are a lot better than this one. However, I can see how this might appeal to younger children as it’s a lot less violent than others on the market. I won’t be keeping Surviv.io this time.

If you decide to download Surviv.io, let us know what you think and if you agree or disagree with the things we said. Happy gaming and stay casual!
