Gameplay
Did we need another match-3 game on the app store? Probably not but there’s another. This one stood out to us as it’s an extension of Subway Surfers, an iconic game we all remember growing up with.
If you’ve played the original game, you’ll know that it’s an endless runner with the main character, Jake, running away from the police for spray painting a train. In this game, however, you play match-3 mini-games in order to help Jake spray paint more areas. Each successful game will give you a spray paint can that’ll allow you to fill in a bit of the design.
Although I really liked the gameplay, it doesn’t differ from any other match-3 game I’ve played before. There’s nothing that stands out above the others…
Graphics
The graphics were okay – they stuck to the same theme as the original game. Bright, colorful, and very cartoony. It looks good and works well with the type of game it is.
Music & Sounds
I was really sad to find out that this game doesn’t have the original Subway Surfers music in it. I can’t think why but it takes away from the fun. When playing the match-3 mini-games, Jake was at the top of the screen shouting out random catchphrases that got pretty annoying over time.
Controls
If you’ve played a match-3 game before, you’ll know that all you need to do is swipe or tap an item of the same color to make 3 or more matching. It’s easy to control with the tutorial not too long or too short for what it is

The Verdict
Subway Surfers Match wasn’t exactly a bad game, there just wasn’t anything special about it. Of course, it’s going to get a lot of downloads because of its name but apart from that, it’s no different from any other match-3 game. That was to be expected though.
