Hey Casual Gamers!  I have considered shooters a staple in any casual gamer phone.  There’s something about flying in mid space destroying those who wish to end our lives and shorten our reward bounty!

Is Space Big Bang one of those casual games that stays on your phone or tablet?  Lets find out in this mini review!

Grab a Rover and fight off the Meteor Numbered Menace!

So with absolutely no story or tutorial to guide, a moon-crawler type of vehicle starts firing at numbered meteors floating in the sky!

Once you’ve eventually crushed by the number of these (It was too easy not to go after) meteors, the game ends.  Unless you opt to take an ad to the face to revive.

This casual app feels fun, but for the wrong reasons if that makes sense.

Not all indie games can look the best, but at least it’s enjoyable.

Steer clear of this casual app if you need visual eye candy.  The moonwalker vehicle looks…strange.  I suppose it sets the scene for fighting on a distant land, but I feel like I made a Lego of this 20 years ago.

Numbering the meteors seems fine to me.  The color and variety is what keeps this casual app enjoyable enough to keep playing.

Some of the backgrounds have a bit of detail to them, but it’s on the same level as a computer wallpaper.

Different landscapes can be unlocked, sadly nothing gets rid of the annoying ad at the bottom.

This was a complete miss.  There’s a hint of music at the start, but that shores up when the game starts.

Then your ears are showered with the sound of rapid fire and the destruction of meteors.  Good times, right?

It should go without saying that this casual app is completely a headphone affair.

The boss fight is interesting..well for this casual app anyway.

This game should have rapid fire without touching the phone.  The controls aren’t that bad, but it’s another definite miss.

Other than that it’s manageable. Guiding the moon vehicle is pretty easy, but take care on where the meteors are at.  This casual app is not forgiven when it comes to taking a hit.

Upgrades are handled well in the main menu.  I’ve noticed that the Meteor numbers grow in proportion to stats leveled.

The Power of in-app Purchases

Get ready for some ads to advance!

There’s a surprising number of purchases for Space:  Big Bang.  The most useful would be the removal of ads for $3.99.  This purchase comes with a new vehicle, a bunch of coins and fragments for new landscapes.

That said, this purchase helps with the grind extremely.  instant double rewards gets upgrades faster and the revival becomes instant.

It’s actually a decent game once the ads are gone.  Imagine that!

The Verdict

I’m still not sure how, but this is an enjoyable casual app!

So, was this the best casual app ever?  Not by a longshot.  It is enjoyable however.

Anyone looking to get points while zoning out to a playlist should at least give Space: Big Bang a casual glancing looking.  The offline reward upgrade will give the boost needed at the start of the game to take out some of the bigger meteors.

This casual app is a pretty prime example of good gameplay with bad execution.  If there’s every a sequel made for this, lets hope it puts a bit more polish into the graphics and music!
