Gameplay
In Merge Empire, the aim of the game is to hire lumberjacks, stonemasons, fishermen, miners, and knights in order to collect resources. With these resources, you can expand your empire, hire more workers, and level up.
Graphics
The graphics are absolutely adorable in my opinion. I love the angry look the king constantly has on his face and the way the workers zoom across the empire. Although the graphics aren’t the most amazing I’ve ever seen, they work perfectly for this type of gameplay.
Music & Sounds
The music is pretty generic for a game like this, however, I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. The music was cheerful and definitely added a good vibe to the fun gameplay. However, you could definitely play this game without the music and it wouldn’t ruin the game.
Controls
The controls are the easiest part of the whole gameplay. You can tap on resources to collect them or tap anywhere to make your workers work faster. The game will also autoplay while you’re away so you’re constantly collecting coins and sometimes gems.
The Power of in-app Purchases
Gems
- 20 gems for £0.99
- 50 gems for £1.99
- 100 gems for £2.99
- 1000 gems for £9.99
VIP
With the VIP subscription, you can get 30/day +4 gem bonuses, coin rewards x3, and no ads. There’s a 3-day free trial and then £4.49 per week.
The VIP subscription is quite expensive for what it is and doesn’t offer you enough. However, the gems would be a great purchase to speed things up within your game. The choice is yours but ultimately you can get away with not spending a cent!
The Verdict
Merge Empire is not exactly what I expected when I first saw it on the app store. When I hear the word ‘merge’ in an app game, I automatically assume it’s going to be one of those games where you merge items together. But it’s not. This game is more like an idle sim type of game where you don’t need to put much effort in.
Merge Empire is a great game for killing time and I see myself playing it more in the future.
