If you remember when Temple Run was popular and you miss that kind of excitement in your life, Jumanji: Epic Run is going to be right up your street. Jumanji: Epic Run consists of you playing as Dr. Smoulder Bravestone and running through dangerous paths to retrieve the sacred Falcon Jewel.
As you can imagine, the gameplay is very similar to Temple Run where you have to move left and right to dodge baddies and collect coins, swipe down to duck/attack, and swipe up to jump. I originally thought it was easy and that there was no way that I wouldn’t be playing for 10 minutes straight, but to my surprise, it’s harder than it looks. I found myself dying quite a lot. If you die and you want to carry on, you can, but it costs 10 berries or you need to watch an ad.
The graphics remind me a lot of a cross between Subway Surfers and Temple Run. The bright and colorful graphics play a big part in the gameplay as it makes it a lot easier to see everything in sight. They’re not the most amazing graphics I’ve ever seen, but they’re good enough for the genre. If they were of console-quality, I’d be confused as to why that’s needed.
In true Jumanji style, Jumanji: Epic Run has intense music that keeps you focused on destroying the enemies. I’m a fan of the music as it isn’t annoying and it actually adds value to the gameplay. There are also sounds when you collect coins, kill enemies, and earn power-ups.
To control your characters, you need to swipe. He will run automatically, but it’s your job to swipe left, right, up, and down in order to survive. There’s nothing unique about these controls as they’re the exact same as any other game that’s similar.

Jumanji is a great film, and so is this game. The game not only exceeded expectations with the gameplay but also offers great graphics and easy to use controls. It’s hard to complain about this game except for the fact there are a lot of other similar games out there. So it’s up to you decide which one you’d rather play. If you like Jumanji, pick this game. If you don’t, go for Temple Run.
