Gameplay
Block Blitz is a game that is similar to Tetris, except you drag the block to where you want it to be. You drag them to make vertical and horizontal block lines. When you do this, space will clear and score points. When you clear block lines on a back-to-back turn, it’ll catch fire and you’ll win bonus points.
- 2 streaks for 150 bonus points
- 3 streaks for 250 bonus points
- 4 streaks for 350 bonus points
- 5 streaks for 450 bonus points
Power bolts happen when you clear 2 or more block lines in a single turn to earn bonus points.
- 2 lines for 200 bonus points
- 3 lines for 400 bonus points
- 4 lines for 600 bonus points
Just like other Skillz games, you go up against a player who is on the same level as you and the highest score wins. You get 3 minutes to score as many points as you can, and the game will end early if you run out of space.
Graphics
Block Blitz has a very dark theme to it – mostly black and blue with, of course, the colored blocks that come in green, orange, purple, pink and yellow. There isn’t much animation to the graphics apart from the points appearing when you score them, and the blocks disappearing when you match a line.
Music & Sounds
Like Bubble Shooter Arena, I did find Block Blitz to have annoying music, however, it did remind me of the music in retro 80’s games. Most app games have this feature, but you can turn of the music if you want.
Controls
The controls are simple and easy to get used to. You are given a block at the bottom of the screen and all you need to do is drag it to the board to make a line. You get an option of 2 or 3 blocks and you need to place them strategically. There isn’t any way the controls could be easier than this and they’re perfect for the type of game Block Blitz is.
The Power of in-app Purchases
Just like Bubble Shooter Arena, you get the option to pay with real money to win.
You can deposit $10, $15, $20, and $30 into your account to then put into future games. There is also currently an offer going on where you deposit $30 into your account and you get an extra $30 for free.

The Verdict
As Block Blitz is very similar to Tetris, there isn’t anything unique about it. The only thing I would say that stands out is that you can win cash and prizes from playing, although I know that not everyone is comfortable with paying real money. Because of this, they’d just play the free version and win Ticketz very, very slowly.
I do, however, think Block Blitz is a great game to play when you have a couple of minutes spare as each match only lasts 3 minutes and if it means winning real cash in such a short amount of time then you can’t really go wrong with that.
