In Avakin Life, users get the chance to create a character and become one with the virtual world. Users can chat openly with others in a room or location or can add friends and message them privately. Achievements will earn you coins and gems that can be used to purchase clothes or other items such as apartments and furniture. Users can also purchase items with their real money to access more gems and other cool features.

Create your own avatar!

When you first open the game, you need to select your character’s gender along with changing their skin color, hair, eyes, clothes and much more. There isn’t much of a tutorial for this game but you don’t really need one. It is a pretty basic game where you can go to social areas to chat with other users. There is an option to purchase things from the shop to improve your avatar (but we’ll get into that later). You can also date other guys and girls, along with dancing, eating and drinking.

There’s a certain section of the locations available called jobs. In this section, you can enter a room and start working there. If you’re lucky enough to have 3 people order food or drink from you, you’ll be rewarded. Unfortunately, I didn’t have anyone order from me and you only get a couple of minutes for your shift before you’re kicked off.

The graphics could be better – they remind me of Second Life!

Although Avakin Life is a very addicting game, the graphics aren’t the best and they lag a lot. I know this isn’t anything to do with my memory or model of my phone because they’re both fine. Avakin Life crashed and froze multiple times. It has that weird, uncomfortable 3D look to it. If you’ve ever played Second Life, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Everything looks a bit odd and not finished.

Sync Apple Music with Avakin Life!

The music in Avakin is different for every room you’re in and they’re all pretty annoying in their own ways. However, there is an option to connect your Apple Music with the game so you can play your own tunes instead. I think this is a really cool feature and I feel like that this is a feature a lot more app games should have. If you remember, Fastlane: Road to Revenge also had this feature.

Control your character with tapping!

Avakin Life’s controls are very straightforward, but there’s so much you can do! To move anywhere on the game, you tap on the floor. If you want to sit down, you tap the blue dots.

The Power of in-app Purchases

Purchase coins and gems!

From what I can understand from playing this addicting game, what you look like is very important. If you look like a newbie, no one will talk to you.

  • Special Offer – 9,000 Avacoins, 100 gems and 30 free items for £3.99
  • 690 Avacoins for £0.99
  • 2,200 Avacoins for £2.99
  • 3,700 Avacoins for £4.99
  • 7,600 Avacoins + 50 gems for £9.99
  • New User Special Offer – 9,000 Avacoins + 100 gems for £3.99
  • Zombie Eyes Offer – 10,000 Avacoins + 100 gems for £9.99
  • 32,100 Avacoins + 100 gems for £38.99
  • 100,000 Avacoins + 2000 gems for £99.99

As I said, it’s important to look good in Avakin Life in order to actually meet people, because some users will just ignore you if your avatar doesn’t look good. However, you don’t need to purchase items with your own money to get any further in the game. Well, there isn’t actually a purpose to the game apart from dressing up yourself, your apartment, and making friends.

The Verdict

What did you think of Avakin Life?

I really enjoyed playing Avakin Life. It’s addicting, fun, and an easy way to make friends. However, the huge variety of scenes, clothing, and home items and accessories make the game fun. But beyond all that, there’s no goal or purpose to Avakin Life.

As I said, the overall graphics and lagging were very offputting and I almost just gave up with the game and went to review something else. But I thought I would get this up anyway to let you all know how Avakin Life definitely has its fair share of pros and cons…

Parents via Common Sense Media have been saying that their kids have been bullied on it, sexually harassed, and tricked into believing that a user was younger than they said they were. Because of this, I believe Anakin should have a stronger privacy policy meaning that admins are alerted when users share their personal information via public and private chat and are given a warning that if they do it again they will be permanently banned. This game could become dangerous in the wrong hands and it’s important to have a stable security so no one gets hurt.

Avakin Life has a lot of similarities to IMVU in the sense of the locations, fashionable clothes, and the typical players. I definitely prefer Avakin over IMVU as it’s played in landscape and IMVU is played in portrait and it can get annoying.

This game is definitely not for kids and I think that the 12+ rating should be changed. I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone under the age of 16 due to sexual references, strong language and some of the promiscuous clothes featured. I can only assume by the things that I saw and heard, that Avakin Life mostly consists of older teens and young adults.
