“The #1 free golf game by Topgolf Media, as seen on NBC Sports, Golf Channel, DIRECTV and FOX Sports. Featuring full stroke play on Pebble Beach, Bandon Dunes (Golf Digest #1 rated resort), Chambers Bay and St Andrews from the PGA Tour. Gameplay

Complex yet very boring gameplay!

My initial reaction to WGT Golf is that the gameplay is quite complex yet boring. Which probably doesn’t make sense but listen up… The actual gameplay is hard, and getting the controls perfected in order to win can become frustrating. The boring part is that waiting around for your opponent can take a long while and you’re forced to watch them. I’m partial to multiplayer games, however, this one takes too long to get through a match.

I think a zoom in button would be a great feature as it was hard to tell how close you are to the hole.

When you enter the game, there are a few rooms you can choose from and a few that are unlocked.

  • Bushwood – Entry fee: 25 coins – Prize: 45 coins
  • Paris – Entry fee: 100 coins – Prize: 180 coins
  • Chelsea – Entry fee: 500 coins – Prize: 900 coins

WGT Golf will connect you with a real random opponent and you will be able to see how good they are and what country they’re from. The game usually connects you with someone with the same skills.

Graphics

Visually amazing graphics!

WGT Golf is visually amazing. The incredibly detailed backdrops of real-life courses is a unique feature that no other sports game has, however, the game does require an ultra-strong Wi-Fi connection because of this and is prone to lagging and glitching at times.

Music

To me, the music in WGT Golf reminds me of The Sims but a lot more annoying. The music is repetitive on top of this. However, this only occurs while you’re on the menu. When you actually enter the game, there is no music and only slight sounds.

Controls

Control your ball by dragging and tapping!

The controls aren’t too complicated on WGT Golf despite the gameplay. To swing, you drag your finger upwards on the right side of the screen and then you tap for the speed of the hit. You can also chat with your competitor in the chat box on the right which is quite a nice feature. If we’re comparing, on Golf Clash you can only send pre-made messages but on this game, you can type out whatever you want which could be dangerous around kids. However, I can’t imagine any child I know enjoying this game – it’s definitely made for adults!

The Power of in-app Purchases

WGT Golf Tour is a pay-to-win game!

Unfortunately, this isn’t one of those games where you can play without making a purchase. So if that’s what you’re interested in, we feel you! Despite the fact that WGT Golf claims to be a free game, it definitely isn’t. It’s blatantly pay-to-win – booooooo!

WGT Golf has a pro shop where you can purchase clubs, balls, apparel, and other items. There is also an option to purchase coins, credits, and mini-games.

Clubs

You can purchase drivers, woods & hybrids, irons, wedges, putters, and club sets. Here are a few examples:

The verdict

What did you think of WGT Golf?

This is the first game on this website that I have rated a 1/5. I really thought this would live up to my love of golf games based on Golf Clash. It didn’t – Golf Clash is definitely better. The reason for this is because the visuals are a lot better and the games don’t drag on forever. Not to mention the gameplay is a heck of a lot easier! So if you’re looking for a fun golf game to play, this isn’t. Give Golf Clash a go and save yourself from boredom!

I really wish there was more to say about this game but there just isn’t. If you download WGT Golf, let us know what you think and if you agree or disagree with any of the things we said. Happy gaming!
