When it comes to first-person shooter games, it is really hard to find one that is of console quality and is actually fun to play. Well, look no further, because here we have Shadowgun Legends. I accidentally found this while looking at the Game of the Day on the app store and I couldn’t help download it. Especially because the reviews were so good.
Gameplay
Humanity is in desperate need of legends who will keep on fighting aliens and put an end to their invasion.
To begin with, you can customize your character to suit your preference. From there, you’ll find yourself in a hub and it’s basically the center point of the game. When you have finished a mission, you’re automatically taken back to the hub. The hub has a bar, a casino, an armor shop, a weapon shop, and even a takeout. You can go into missions with other players and it won’t get boring no matter how many times you do it because every mission features new creatures to kill and new puzzles to solve. On top of this, missions don’t go on for more than a few minutes so if you’re short on time you’ll probably be able to fit in a few games.
Graphics
I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart that Shadowgun Legends has the best graphics I have ever seen on a mobile game. They’re well detailed, 3D, they don’t lag and full of color. What more could you want? Although this did take a fair amount of time to download, and is a massive file, it’s 100% worth it. The whole aesthetic of it reminds me of Destiny.
Music
When you’re in the hub, there’s a lot of sounds going on. Depending on what you get close to, someone will speak or you will hear the music. For example, when you walk into the casino the bouncer will say “nice to see you” or the bartender will say “you look like you’re in need of a cold one”. I like how much effort has gone into making the hub feel like such a casual place where you can just hang out while waiting for missions.
However, when you’re in a mission, the sounds are completely different. Of course, there is a lot of shooting and sometimes your character will even say things like “hell yeah” and “ha! what a shot” when you kill an enemy! On some occasions, there will be people talking into your earpiece to help you which I thought was a nice addition.
Controls
I was a little bit nervous about the controls as I usually find that first-person shooters have complicated controls that make it hard to play. The controls are actually super simple. To move, you just drag your thumb around the bottom left side of the screen and to look around, you do the same but on the bottom right side of the screen. To shoot, all you have to do is aim at the enemy and your gun will automatically start shooting. It really is that simple!!!

The Verdict
This is the first ever time I have rated an app game 5/5. Usually, there’s some small flaw that brings it down a number but honest, Shadowgun Legends is insane and I am most definitely going to keep playing it.
The graphics are probably the most impressive of all. They’re of console quality and even my friends were shocked at how amazing this game was visually – and the fact it’s FREE to download!
If you really want a game on your phone that is extremely similar to your console game, Shadowgun Legends is for you.
