Ellie’s parents disappeared when she was just a little kid. Now, many years later, the young artist comes back home to unravel the mystery of their disappearance, restore their mansion, get acquainted with the magic world of Pixelwoods, and simply have fun!”

Gameplay

The gameplay was simple!

Sometimes all I want to do is play a simple game that doesn’t take much brain power. Pixelwoods gave me precisely what I was hoping for… It’s a color-by-numbers game that I’ve never played before so it was completely new territory to me but I liked it.

The style of gameplay was like a match-3 where you have to complete mini-games to fix up a house, except with this game you color in pictures. Depending on how hard the picture was depended on how many stars you received for completing it.

Graphics

The graphics were cute and playful!

The graphics for Pixelwoods were adorable and fit in well with the gameplay. This game seems more aimed at women and children than men but could easily be played by anyone despite the graphics. They’re very bright and cute – making it a very wholesome experience.

Music & Sounds

Following the wholesome graphics, the audio was the same. With very child-like music, voices, and sounds from the general gameplay, it really did make a relaxing experience.

Controls

Tap to color in!

There was a lot of tapping involved when it came to the coloring. You’re given a blank outline of a drawing filled with numbered squares and all you have to do is tap the number with the right color until you finish the whole thing.

The controls were easy to use, however, I do wish I was able to drag my finger across when the same color was in a row rather than tap each box individually.

The Verdict

What did you think?!

Pixelwoods wasn’t a complex game by any means but it definitely gave me the relaxing vibe I was hoping for when I first downloaded it. Although it’s definitely not a game you get insanely invested in, it is a great way to kill some time whether you’re waiting for an Uber or have some spare time between meetings.
