Gameplay
My Hotpot Story ads have been appearing on my Instagram feed for quite a while now so I thought it was time to download it and see what it’s about. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite what I expected and this was mostly to do with the fact I didn’t understand what to do.
Usually, I would take that as a fault of my own but despite the extensive tutorial, it doesn’t tell you what to actually do. What I do know is that this is a game where you have to serve customers hotpot recipes, take their money and clean up after them.
Graphics
The graphics were cute – I thought the characters were adorable but I felt like it wasn’t very responsive to my taps and lagged quite a bit. This is probably down to the fact it’s a cheaply-made game but it did turn me off slightly.
Music & Sounds
As you can probably imagine with a game like this, the music and sounds were very upbeat and cheerful, giving the gameplay even more of a wholesome experience.
Controls
Swipe to the kitchen to invite the customer in then swipe back to the restaurant to take their order and prepare it for them in good time. Luckily the controls were easy to use.

The Verdict
I don’t see myself playing this game in the future. It was confusing most of the time and I just didn’t have fun – it needs a lot of work done to the graphics and tutorial before I consider playing again.
