The gameplay for Claire’s Café: Sea Adventure was pretty basic compared to other cooking games. You’re serving food on a boat and you have to make and deliver the food within a time limit to complete the level. Although this sounds easy on the surface, remembering how to cook some of the meals got confusing at times and completely put me off the gameplay.
The graphics make this game look super old – it looks like something that was made for PC between 2002-2007. However, they don’t lag or crash at any point so they score a point there, I just wish it was more interesting to look at.
Music & Sounds
Like the graphics, the background audio feels very dated which ruins the whole game for me. Of course, I don’t expect much when it comes to a casual game like this but I wanted to rip my own ears off by the time I finished playing.
To control Claire, simply tap on the item your customer orders, and then serve it to them. For some meals, there are extra steps but the game just consists of tapping on items in a certain order and time limit.
Like the vast majority of GameHouse games, you can subscribe to their monthly or yearly subscription to play the full game plus 49 of their other story games. This is £8.99 a month or £78.99 for the year. If you don’t feel like subscribing, you can purchase the full game for £8.99 or the next 20 levels for £1.79 if you’re still not sure about committing.
I like this type of in-app purchase as there are no gems or coins to buy. It’s just a simple “If you like this game, buy it or subscribe to try all our games!”
I love games like this, especially when they’re made by GameHouse, so I’m disappointed that I didn’t enjoy Claire’s Café: Sea Adventure. It’s not the worst game I’ve ever played, I just feel like there’s too much to remember too quickly.
