Boxing Star is a new boxing-themed game created by Four Thirty Three, and it’s currently available on iOS and Android. This game allows you to create your own boxer and follow along with his career. You begin as a street fighter and you get the chance to make your way up as the World Champion. Of course, the journey will have many setbacks, but it’s up to you to use your skill to get through them. Are you up for the challenge?

Boxing Star Gameplay

Fight against enemies to unlock special items!

When you first start up the game, you’re thrown into a tutorial of a heavyweight boxing match between Joe the King against The Grave. You play as Joe the King and you learn how to Jab, Hook, Uppercut, hold on, Dodge and other cool moves.

Once you’ve been through the tutorial, you get to choose your character – there isn’t a lot of detail to it – you just get to choose between 3 guys. With your manager, Emma, you get the chance to begin your career as a boxing professional.

This gam has 2 different types of game modes – Story Mode and The League.

Boxing Star Graphics

Boxing Star has striking 3D graphics!

The graphics are of a 3D style and they don’t usually lag (although it does sometimes). But that’s fine, as the colors are vibrant and it sticks out from the rest of the games on the app store.

Boxing Star Music

Like the vast majority of mobile games, the music is annoying. It plays upbeat songs that are basically repeated every minute or so. But like I said, that’s expected and doesn’t ruin the gameplay in my opinion.

Of course, during the gameplay, it has sounds like grunting, punching, falling, the crowd cheering etc. It kinda takes your mind off of the music, especially because of how hard you have to focus to actually win a match.

Boxing Star Controls

Swipe/tap to control your character!

To perform a jab, you just need to tap on the target. For a hook, you need to swipe to the left or to the right, and for that, you have to swipe up or down to perform an uppercut. There are a lot of controls in this game and it confused me, especially since you’ve got to be quick. I can’t complain though, it keeps the game interesting.

Boxing Star The Power of in-app Purchases

Purchase cool packages in the store!

Boxing Star is free to play, but it has a shop to purchase many goodies that’ll help you along the way. There are 5 sections – Rotation, Limited, Packages, Supplies, Coin&Gold. In my opinion, the way you’re going to get your money’s worth is by purchasing one of the packages under the Limited tab.

Rotation contains accessories that change every day, so if you’re wanting something, don’t leave it too late. You can get products like boxing gloves and boxing wear.

Limited has packages like:

  • Daily Login Gold Rush (Login every day to receive 30 gold FOREVER) – Instant 850 Gold and 30 Gold x Every Day Forever Gold – £9.99
  • 28k Magic (Login every day to receive 50 gold for 28 days) – Instant 330 Gold and 50 Gold x 28 Days 1400 Gold – £4.99

Packages have boxes that contain gear and bags that contain costumes.

Supplies contain foods and energy drinks that helps maximize your HP during breaks.

Coin&Gold contains well, coins and gold:

  • 500 coins for 70 gold
  • 5000 coins for 660 gold
  • 50000 coins for 5900 gold
  • 60 gold for £0.99
  • 330 gold for £4.99
  • 850 gold for £9.99
  • 1800 gold for £19.99

and so on…

The Verdict

What did you think of Boxing Star?

I actually really enjoyed this game. I’m probably the least sporty person ever so when it comes to playing a game where I only have to tap and swipe, I’m okay with that. The graphics are brilliant, the music is adequate and the gameplay and story are actually really interesting. You become invested in getting your character to the very top of the champions and I think that’s the most exciting part of the game.

In short, I’m definitely going to continue playing this game after this review is finished because I’m really interested to see how far I can get before it gets too hard for me (If it ever does).

If you’re interested in a good boxing game that you can play for more than a short 2 minutes, this is for you. If you’re interested in downloading Boxing Star, the links are below for iOS and Android. Happy gaming!
