Hey Casual Gamers! Nothing makes my digital warlord self feel better than seeing an army working for me while i’m gone. I suppose that what makes an Idle RPG so appealing to me.
AFK Arena offers a world of adventure and endless waves of demon slaying. Is this worth your casual time and space? Lets dig deeper into this review and find out!
Gameplay
We begin in a world in peril. You must band heroes from various kingdoms to fight against the endless wave of demonic enemies.
So the backstory is pretty bland. Thankfully, the gameplay makes up for it in volumes. This casual Idle RPG works a bit different than normal Idle apps. While your heroes do most of the work by killing the horde, there are levels and countless instances to level up and collect more items and fragments.
The design on this casual app is pretty flawless. Everything is colorful and full of detail it can be overwhelming in such an epic way!
Graphics
I’m in love with these graphics! Each hero has their story and animation, not to mention a pretty cool portrait picture when launching an special attack.
landscapes and kingdoms are visually stunning to look at as well!
To me, there’s nothing better than seeing a hero heroically shouting in power to launch a devastating attack!
AFK Arena shows that you can have next level graphics and barely do any work!
Music
The soundtrack for is a little lackluster. It’s your typical medieval sound on a loop.
Clearly, most of the budget was spent on voice acting. There’s tons of vocal dialogue to listen to as you immerse yourself into this casual app.
So I’m torn between a playlist or not for this one, but as long as I can hear the sound effects and vocals while enjoying some outside tunes, I’ll call it doable.
Controls
Like many Idle RPGs, this one is about the same with controls. Starting off will be a tapping frenzy to learn everything, but most of the work will be navigating through menus to get to the different modes.
It’s always enjoyable to see a world map! AFK Arena has a massive amount of content and it shows with all the additional locations available to visit.
The Power of in-app Purchases
There’s an absurd amount of items to purchase in this casual app. I mean I get specials and promotions, but man the list feels overwhelming at times. The 1st time offer seems reasonable, and the subscriptions are generously priced, as most of the gems will be used for obtaining new heroes.
I haven’t really found much as far as purchasing materials, which is kinda odd. In the same token it’s understandable to have items that can only be obtained in game.
The Verdict
This casual app is a welcomed twist when it comes to Idle RPG games. Levels to clear and cards to upgrade in different ways feels like two games in one!
If you’re looking to do alot and at the same time not that much, AFK Arena offers the chance to make heroes do the dirty work while climbing your kingdom to casual greatness.
